About Simon
I love working with emerging talent. Having been an actor myself I'm acutely aware of the challenges and pressures of approaching both auditions and ongoing projects. Along the way I've been taught and picked up some really useful tools to help with these processes. As well as this, now focusing on my career as a film director, I understand the perspective of the people who are going to be watching your tapes (or working with you on set!) - so I can help you get the best out of yourself and your material. As a director I now have five short films under my belt, playing in Oscar, BAFTA and EFA qualifying festivals all over the world, all made in the last few years, and some of which I got to make as part of my Masters Degree in Directing Fiction at The National Film & Television School. I work one to one with early career performers, to help them cut through in their screen auditions and find truth in their performance. I love helping actors to uncover the deeper elements at play in a scene and to find means of connection with their character at a fundamental level, unlocking true ownership of the material. I also work as a production and rehearsal acting coach, most recently collaborating with acting coach Miranda Harcourt on Daisy May Cooper & Selin Hizli’s comedy thriller AM I BEING UNREASONABLE? - for which cast member Lenny Rush received a BAFTA and both he and Daisy received Royal Television Society Programme Awards for acting! Huge congratulations to them. My background is as an actor myself. I’ve worked on everything from international touring theatre to Hollywood blockbusters. On top of this I can offer a director’s perspective, having recently graduated with an MA in Directing Fiction from The National Film & Television School.

Hi , I’m Olivia - a 13 year old actress based in the North . I worked with Simon on a short film , which had some challenging scenes . Simon did some great exercises on set , which helped me really connect with the character . The tips he gave me , have been really useful for future auditions . I really love working with Simon he’s so patient and fun to work with !
My daughter was in a short film directed by Simon. Throughout the filming he was fantastic with the children calm patient and direction was thoughtful and clear.
