About Joann
I am a professional oboist and music educator with a Master of Music degree from the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) in Manchester.
I teach oboe, recorder and ABRSM music theory to children, teenagers and adults. My lessons are tailored to each student's individual needs, whether they are learning for enjoyment, preparing for ABRSM examinations or developing their confidence and musicianship.
I believe lessons should be enjoyable, supportive and encouraging. I aim to create a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making progress at their own pace and developing a lifelong love of music.
Alongside my private teaching, I also work with young musicians through Warrington Youth Orchestra, giving me experience teaching both individual students and groups.
Lessons can include technique, tone production, scales, sight-reading, aural skills, repertoire and performance preparation, depending on each student's goals.

Every lesson is tailored to each student's age, experience and individual goals. Whether you are a complete beginner, preparing for ABRSM examinations, or simply learning for enjoyment, I aim to create a supportive, engaging and encouraging learning environment.
Lessons focus on developing good technique, beautiful tone, rhythm, sight-reading, scales, musicianship and performance skills. Music theory can also be integrated into instrumental lessons where appropriate, helping students gain a deeper understanding of music.
As a graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM), I combine professional performance experience with practical teaching methods. I currently teach private students and work with young musicians through Warrington Youth Orchestra. My goal is to help every student build confidence, make steady progress and enjoy their musical journey.
