Q. Can't I just learn online since there is so much free information?

A. Yes, there is so much information out there (ChatGPT, YouTube, Google, Artstation, Skillshare, etc..) that is free or cheap, yes, there is high-quality free stuff and beyond super high-quality, but you don't know what you don't know all of it is high-quality, just like there is so many healthcare providers out there on the internet, but you still cannot figure out by diagnosing your own problem unless if you learn from someone/ multiple people who have more than 15,000+ Hours of experience whether is in their medical study or in helping real-world patient diagnosing their issue, you don't want your doctor to explain the chemical element that they learn from their 10-20+years of study that you don't even understand but don't help to solve your disease pain at the moment is it?

This is a new kind of knowledge dynamic problem that society is facing today when information is EXPLODING GLOBALLY that also applies to the Illustration/Manga Art industry, otherwise, why would you even browse around platforms like Superprof and pay someone for specific guidance of any kind of subject? I believe you need the right kind of wisdom instead of useless data with the right kind of moment of your creative journey, and iterate in a meaningful manner.

Of course, you still can figure-it-out on your own with that information volume IF AND ONLY IF you are a smart unicorn and able to possess the ability to think critically, filter out low-quality information and biases, give yourself honest critical feedback about the ongoing learning track you are taking, think on a higher level and take action accordingly with self-discipline, otherwise you will potentially wonder into viciously stressful chaotic darkness (HSEDALC) for another decade without making meaningful progress. personally, I always look for other people help and I got no shame with that, but it's still your decision to make.



Q. What kind of preparation do I need?

A. My specialized art field is in Illustration and Manga, and I mainly focus on a freehand digital art medium as my primary function, with Adobe Creative Suite, iPad Pro, Wacom Intuos, Clip Studio Paint, and Macbook Pro, so you will need to have a similar high-end quality digital drawing tablet, drawing program, modern-day computer, and stable internet, as for The Dragon mentorship program, you might need to travel with me to do some research training, make sure you have the travel gadgets prepared like high-quality camera, mobile art toolkits, and other customized preparation kits as we go through the iteration of highly personalized learning structure for your specific learning mechanism.

Aside from the artistic technical execution part, you should also get a gut feeling to see if the philosophy that I practice in terms of my artistry creation, business, and career path aligned with your personality or not, so you will be fulfilled with the whole experience down the road and I can ensure I'm able to deliver my knowledge and integrate into your artistry practice effectively. since this is not a generic art education program you can find in the world.




Q. Why not go to art school?

A. Art school is good! They have a more established education system when it comes to training in foundational anatomy lessons and honing your professional discipline as an artist. (I learned from art school myself! Formerly student from The One Academy.) The things you can learn and train from there are good for beginners and lean towards a more generic art knowledge and integration (which is also IMPORTANT to your growth as a professional Illustration/Manga artist).

You can also find artists who are like me teaching who work in the industry directly in the art school teaching others, usually, they are teaching in the senior year (in my school, they are teaching the third year), but every school works differently, some of those teachers also have their part-time thing teaching somewhere around social media, for an example there is a Youtube Channel called Art Department Podcast (ADP) that talks about game illustration things,

If you are in art school right now and reading this, focus on nailing down your art fundamentals down into your subconscious mind as part of your second nature, then ask a lot of questions to your lecturer about your further education program and the career navigation aspect of things, you have to in-depth research about the art school/teacher and confirm if the art school/teacher is training the kind of talent/specialization that you wanted to be or not, including me, the G-Sifu, be consistent with that you will hit to a point where you will know when you can make a leap of faith as you kept on moving forward with fast pacing, that could also mean you might considering drop out from art school/ college/ university without getting any kind of certification as you will need more time to input into your creative endeavor, then you will need a teacher like me later on with your journey of growth since you are already walking in the forest.





Q. Which kind of language can I use in the mentorship?

A. English and Chinese(简体中文), I can communicate in those languages in terms of text or talking. Some of the online/offline resources that I provided will also be presented in both of these languages.

Sometimes you need to consult with a licensed industry such as therapist, doctor, etc. Because you will guaranteed stepping into gray boundaries when your innovative creative idea, the legal boundaries, and realistic situations gets little bit blurry, whether it's in fictional writing or real-world practical tacit action steps,

I'm NOT advocating or saying to do something illegal here, and it can be realistically dangerous if you got no experience of handling it and you act as a one person especially because you will have a LOT of BLIND SPOTS that you don't know about, for that I cannot give you exactly what you should do because I'm not licensed professional, but I can give you a guide when you should find these kind of professionals when needed, as I always talk to my corporate lawyer which is also guided in both of the language above.





Q. Do I need to read any books before I enroll in this mentorship?

A. Reading more is always good, but you don't need to any specific book before you enter this mentorship, however, if you have a knowledge system established like Notion/Roamreseach that can help you learn fast then it's good, or if you have a note-taking system whether it's a journal or tech like ipadPro that can help you take note faster whether if you are in college or not, also you can draw, I have this ipadPro idea myself because I'm inspired by one of the YouTuber that I watched called 李锦堂 or something who studied at 清华大学 (China Top 1 University), one of his video where he show his 13+ Hours study a day, all of his videos are the learning motivation booster to me and always boost me to lvl.99999 mood and want to learn things, he is one hell of a man in my heart and I still respect him until this day, and then suddenly I got myself an ipadPro because of he is using ipadPro and he explains the benefit of using ipadPro. and I'm using ipadPro now until today.

Of course I'm still motivating to learn new things now but I'm learning art, and he is learning about aircraft, that is small sharing of my basic af not-so-legend origin story of my initial motivation of pursuing my growth journey around my 20 - 500+ Hours milestone of mastery timeline (and being sold with an ipadPro), also another main thing is you need to be ready to unlearn MASSIVELY of the information about the art and market in your head at the same time when you are learning from this mentorship program, sometimes unlearning pre-established concept will be significantly a lot HARDER than learning new things, be prepared for that.





Q. If I'm an AI art user, will this mentorship work for me?

A. Sure! I can work together with AI artists, but there are a few special situations to consider if you come from an AI art tool background, Generally, when I'm doing art review, I use freehand technique traditionally or digitally in all forms of the artworks that I created Suppose you want me to do art critique and correction on your AI-based artwork, I can help you correct your images using photo bash techniques, note that it could take 500 to 10,000 hand drawing strokes for each iteration plus process explanation if you need help with questions like "Which kind of prompt should I input to make better work?", I cannot help with that method of crafting art unless you already have a way to integrate my iteration thinking process and drawing execution technique into your unique style of artistic prompting technique effectively.

But if you are a person who is going to use AI in commercial work and you want to ask questions related to how to navigate within the luxury free market of the creative industry with AI artwork as a whole, unfortunately, I cannot help you with that because most art director/creative director I know are not really friendly to these technologies as they are a lot of lousy AI-Art user and cannot produce something good, or they are not sure if they are talking to real-human being because AI user usually "AI" everything even if they are communicating with their client or the AI-generated art itself can tie themself to billion dollars worth copyright case and they don't want to involve themself into this messy legal process, this is the overall observation that I have around the overall luxury free market dynamic at the moment and it might change at the future and I'm not some kind of lawyer myself, so I can't help you from that creative business point of view.

I personally still love some of the AI-generated work for example that Chinese beaver gangsta motivation talk clip lol. (Social credit +1000) but I do not like how some of the "tech-bros" use AI art not because they love AI art, but their attitude tie toward to 'destroy artist existence'.

No, this is not a beginner program, you will learn cutting-edge information from the artist by thinking about your current career positioning, non-generic practical advice, and synergizing to help you avoid some common and not-so-common mistakes, as I assumed you already have a lot of creative projects going on already before you enroll into this service.

Also, keep in mind that NOT everyone who enrolls in this mentorship will get the result that I envision you will do, some of you will not use my advice in real-world practice and some of you will quit in the middle of the way due to the long time it takes to be committed into the ambiguity, base on one of my experiences is I used to coach a 25+ years senior chemist manager but she don't have that kind of proactiveness of learning about the subject matter itself so she didn't ask me question actively or follow up and make improvement until she achieve the full potential of what I'm able to teach her, but that's her choice because I already make this statement of the possibility of the reality she is facing now exist beforehand to show the transparency of failure rate of it, it doesn't only not wasting her resources, but it also wastes my time of missing an opportunity to help my other customer who really want to learn about the craft to the master level and get myself more testimony on it to build my credibility level,
