About David
I am no stranger to adversity. I have lived through substance abuse and more than two decades of severe chronic pain. Today, I have been free from drug and alcohol abuse for 17 years. These experiences have given me a deep understanding of the challenges people face when trying to change their lives.
There was a time when I lost my mobility and became largely confined to a couch or bed. In 2017, I began rebuilding my life, developing healthy routines, sleep hygiene, exercise habits, and long-term recovery strategies. Through persistence and education, I regained my independence and pursued higher education.
I am currently a third-year Addictions Counseling student, a Certified Recovery Coach, and a trained SMART Recovery Facilitator. I facilitate recovery meetings and provide psychoeducation using evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) principles, Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), relapse prevention strategies, and other recovery tools.
I also completed a Personal Support Worker certification and clinical placement, expanding my understanding of supporting people through physical and emotional challenges.
While I am not a licensed therapist, I offer recovery coaching, guidance, accountability, education, and practical tools to help individuals build healthier lives. My goal is to meet people where they are, treat them with dignity and respect, and help them discover that meaningful change is possible.

As a Certified Recovery Coach, SMART Recovery Facilitator, and Addictions Counselling student, I provide individualized recovery coaching for people seeking support with addiction recovery, relapse prevention, motivation, goal setting, and lifestyle change. My approach combines evidence-based recovery tools, psychoeducation, and practical strategies that can be applied in everyday life. Sessions are tailored to each person's goals, strengths, and stage of recovery. Whether you are beginning recovery, maintaining long-term recovery, or supporting a loved one, I offer a supportive, non-judgmental environment focused on growth and positive change.
SMART Recovery tools and methods
REBT (Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy) principles (a core foundation of SMART Recovery)
CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) concepts that are commonly taught in addiction counseling programs and SMART Recovery
Motivational Interviewing (MI) techniques (if you've studied them in your addictions counseling coursework)
Relapse Prevention (RP), including material from TIP 42 that you've been studying
Psychoeducation about addiction, recovery, coping skills, triggers, cravings, and behavior change
Strengths-based coaching
Goal-setting and behavior change strategies
Peer support and recovery capital development (helping clients build supports, routines, and resources that strengthen recovery)
