About Lucas
Hi, I'm Lucas :) I recently graduated from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. I now have a Bachelor's in Physics, with a concentration in Electrical Engineering, and minors in Mathematics and Informatics. I was also a 4-time Individual State Qualifier for the ICTM Math Contest in high school. Other than that, I love chess, music listening and making, and reading!

So, the first part of a lesson is always an assessment of current understandings. This includes getting bearings on any ongoing curricula, or asking about particular unfamiliar concepts. I want to meet students where they are, and build on what they already know in intuitive and clear paths, rather than force a rigid regimen or anything. That said, doing is learning. For recurring students I can create personalized problem sets as mini-quests. Or, I can help you work through your homework, or casually discuss and clarify unintuitive ideas. The method is flexible on a per-student basis: no two people learn the same way. No matter the method, I'm enthusiastic about the subjects, and I'm invested in your growth. I aim to help cultivate not only niche understanding of particular problems, but a wider sense of what problem solving is made of. Plus, I love geeking about math and physics, and you can too. I can tutor in math and physics at the high school level, as well as some early college level. Specific subjects in math include Algebra, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus I-III (i.e. up to vector calculus). In physics, specific subjects include AP Physics, Classical Mechanics, and introductory electromagnetism. (I can also secretly tutor in introductory electronics or computer programming!)
