About Sophie
I have a degree in physics with a focus on computer science. I taught ages 4-8 the fundamentals of computer programing and engineering in San Francisco for nearly two years and privately tutored fellow students in college level mathematics. This is how I fell in love teaching, helping others discover that math and physics isn't as daunting as we're brought up to believe -- that anyone can do it!

First and foremost, I like to get to know who I'm teaching i.e. what classes they enjoy or find easy and the reason they believe they could be better the given subject we'll be working in. After I have a better gauge on the style in which they learn best, I like to start with homework and see how they attack each problem. Only then do I start to reteach and therefor help them reimagine a topic. I believe that understanding what mathematics is tangibly is crucial to successfully finding the answer to a specific problem.
