About Harry
My name is Harry Newman and I am a trained Mathematics teacher and formerly an Academic mentor (A tutor working for a particular school). I think it is important for the students that I teach to know my grades for Mathematics. At GCSE I got an A, and at A level I got a an A and B in Maths and Further Maths respectively. I say this to make the point that although I was good at Mathematics, I was never the very best and had to continually practice. I believe there is no substitute for hard work, and that is what I hope I can instil in my students, even for a subject they don't like. If you are to select me as your tutor, I will strive to provide the progression you require, whilst doing so in a manner where you can not have to worry about making mistakes, but actually use these mistakes for your own development.

A tutoring session is not just like a standard school lesson. It should be utilised to isolate areas of weakness or gaps of knowledge from each student, allowing for the most important aspect which is progression. From my experience, an understanding-focused teaching alongside exam practice is the most beneficial for producing this progression.
Lessons will be 60 minutes long, which includes a 5 minutes introduction or catch up and a 5 minute session review and plan, so a total of 10 minutes discussion. I would be willing to consider 90 minute lessons with A level students.

Academic mentor (Essentially a tutor attached to a particular school) with 5 years experience, PGCE Graduate, 2:1 Maths Degree.
