About Luiza
I am a recent graduate of New York University. I was born in Brazil but have lived in New York for more than 12 years. I have 3 years of experience teaching English to non-native speakers. I also have experience with SAT / ACT tutoring. I'm going to spend a season in my hometown of São Paulo, and I want to use this opportunity to share my fluency, experience living abroad, and knowledge of the American university system with young people who are interested in improving their language skills. I am an avid learner of languages and, besides English and Portuguese, I also speak Spanish, Italian and French fluently. I believe that learning a language should be fun and I want to share that passion with my students.

I strongly believe in the communicative method of teaching, and therefore base my classes in everyday situations that reflect the reality of each of my students. The idea is to teach the language in the context in which it is actually used, thus helping the student develop a greater level of naturalness and fluency. That's why I say that personalized attention is essential to getting my students to learn quickly and stand out. Each of my classes is created taking into account the interests, goals and difficulties of each student. I believe that learning a foreign language should be fun, which is why I bring a variety of out-of-the-box and highly interactive activities to the classroom. I seek to bring in the interests of the student to facilitate and accelerate learning. International news, literary bestsellers, the top Billboard records .... the "real" world is part of my classroom. It's the perfect opportunity to make those endless hours spent on Netflix worth something!

Cheguei ao Brasil e vivi durante muitos anos sem falar português. Me esforçava mas não conseguia dominar a língua. Até que conheci a Luiza. Além de ótima professora, ela entende aspectos culturais e linguísticos que enriquecem demais o aprendizado. Para nós “gringos” pode parecer impossível ficar fluente em português (que língua difícil!) mas posso garantir que a Luiza vai fazer da sua jornada MUITO mais fácil e agradável.
Tive aulas de inglês com a Luiza, além de receber ajuda para traduções profissionais. A Luiza tem fluência na língua inglesa e consegue fazer a conexão entre Inglês e Português perfeitamente. A didática dela é excelente e ela está sempre disposta a responder perguntas, de qualquer nível de complexidade, com paciência e clareza.
