About Ciara
I love to teach! I first discovered this passion when I volunteered at a primary school helping younger kids (KS1) build reading skills and overseeing the development of a school newspaper by older students (KS2). Since then I have worked predominantly with GCSE level students tutoring to assist them in the run up to their exams, also tutoring A-Level students throughout their journey to exams and beyond. In my time at the University of Cambridge, I got involved in outreach, speaking at open days and assisting prospective students with their understanding of the application process, for which I received the Don Stebbings Prize.

My approach is first and foremost dependent on your needs, but two broad approaches shape my lessons with you. Either, we can work together to troubleshoot problems with specific parts of topics or questions that have come up in your school study, be that homework, practice exams or lessons. Here we might review questions you answered wrong, or essays that scored low - this might be more valuable for a student closer to their exams. Or, lessons can be oriented around working together to build understanding in areas where you may need more help, for instance, we can work on essay technique, I can give a general topic overview or foregrounding the topics you will be moving on to - helpful to students both early in the stages of their study or nearer to exams, who need to step back and look again at the bigger picture. Any combination of these two modes of learning can be employed, and if there is anything specific that you feel would be helpful, please just get in contact and we can sort it out. Lessons are typically 45 minutes, though this can be altered to fit different schedules, and I am happy to do longer (or shorter) provided I know in advance on weekends or after school as you see fit. To make best use of your time with me, it is good to keep clear goals about what we can achieve together before your exams - three weeks or three months is plenty of time to make a difference, we just need to be structured about our use of whatever time we have. These lessons are most appropriate for students entering their first year of GCSE studies, through to students who are about to take their A-Levels, or are re-sitting any of these exams. I am happy to take students of any level and with any ambition.

Ciara is a really great tutor who explains complex subjects in a very clear and methodical manner. Her enthusiasm is infectious and aside from making the complex easy, she makes studying fun!

She puts hours of work into each lesson plan, meaning her lessons are clear, engaging, and informative. She has helped students from GCSE level and above in English and R.E. reach new heights. 10/10.
Ciara is obviously very inquisitive and knowledgeable about her sector, which was shown with my encounter with her, but she is not just smart but very easily understood and helpful.
