I went to college with Daniel at Indiana State University! Because I was a STEM major, writing and English-oriented things were never really my thing. I was constantly stressed about my writing when I should’ve been worrying about studying my actual major! Daniel decided to help me run through some of the basics when I was writing one of my big final labs of the semester—from semicolons to run-on sentences. His coaching and prompting were challenging yet kind, and I felt like for the first time in my life I was actually understanding the grammar rules, rather than just memorizing them for a week like I did in high school. Whenever I would get frustrated, Daniel was good at taking different approaches to problems so that I could understand the issue in different ways! My writing has improved drastically just by knowing Daniel, but through experiences such as this final lab paper, I recognize just how large of an impact he had on the quality of work I submitted throughout the rest of my college career. He even helped me with some of my personal statements for my master's degree, and I can now say I am a proud masters student!
