About Samantha
I am a licensed Oregon teacher. I taught in public elementary school for 6 years before having my kids and starting my family. I have experience teaching kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, and 4th grade. I also did 1:1 tutoring with public schools for students on the homebound program, successfully supporting education for kids who were not able to appear in a classroom.

I teach elementary level reading to emerging and struggling readers. I teach phonics, reading fluency, reading comprehension, and I have experience working with hesitant readers to find books that interest them.
Phonics instruction is crucial for for students who are struggling with reading. Phonics instruction needs to be repetitive and direct. With phonics instruction, students can become fluent readers. Reading fluency builds comprehension.
I can work with your student to find gaps in their reading and build reading confidence.
