About Shuba
I am a California-certified teacher who is formally trained in the Orton-Gillingham approach to teaching reading and multi-sensory math strategies. My expertise lies in adapting lessons and activities to provide specialized academic instruction both in reading and math for struggling learners in these subjects.
I have 17 years of experience working with students in public and private school settings. I have earned a Master's degree in education. My students will be given a premium service with special attention to their social-emotional welfare where their opinions will be valued and uniqueness celebrated

I am a patient and adaptable teacher. My methodologies and techniques include providing multi-sensory exposure to the concepts as well as a predictable structure to the lesson flow.
My typical lesson plan will include a review of the prior knowledge of the lesson, introduction to the new lesson, modeling of the lesson activity, guided practice, independent practice opportunity, and recap of the lesson. I will stop at any point in this flow to answer questions and clarify any misconceptions. This structure will allow me to check for students' understanding of the concept and any reteaching, if necessary.
I am a seasoned teacher who is data-driven. Therefore I will conduct a quick initial assessment, followed by delivery of instruction to meet the level of the student, followed by periodic assessments and progress updates.
My services are offered to students ages 4 to 13 (elementary and middle school) and to students with and without exceptionalities.
