About Emmie
Teaching has been a dream of mine since childhood, and I am thrilled to fulfill that dream by tutoring. What excites me the most about tutoring is seeing students realize what they’re capable of, especially those who may feel unsure of themselves. I’ve been in their shoes—struggling in school and feeling like I didn’t belong in certain classes. That’s why I’m dedicated to making sure no student feels that way with me. I understand that not everyone grasps concepts immediately, and that’s okay! I’m here to guide you through every step and help you feel confident in your abilities. I have hands-on teaching experience, including creating and teaching lesson plans, managing classrooms, and even teaching third graders when I was in high school. As a tutor, I understand that every student learns differently, which is why I tailor my teaching methods to meet your unique needs. I use a combination of visual aids and step-by-step guidance to make sure the material is clear. Additionally, I make sure we verbalize concepts together to help reinforce learning in a conceptual way. A typical lesson plan with me starts with a review of what you already know, connecting it to what we’re about to learn. This helps ensure we’re on the same page. We’ll keep the lesson engaging with hands-on techniques like note-taking, reading aloud, and solving problems together. If any confusion arises, we’ll tackle it together and build off of it to help you retain the material. What sets me apart is my ability to connect with students and make them feel comfortable. I know how intimidating tutoring can be because I’ve been there too, needing help during middle school, high school, and college. There’s no shame in needing support, and I’m here to provide that in a friendly, welcoming way. I am passionate about helping students at all levels, whether you’re struggling in middle school math, high school physics, or even college-level earth science. I especially love working with students who are facing challenges because I know exactly what that feels like, and I’m here to help overcome them!
