About Marian
I have taught in both secondary school and in home education, with excellent results at A-Level and GCSE. At this level of education students need to be able to read and process significant amounts of written information: My teaching will help you to make sense of the subject through overviews, repetition, practice and review, with a particular emphasis on answering exam questions.

Philosophy and Religion are exciting and challenging subjects which stretch the mind. I have a First Class honours degree in Theology and a Post Graduate Certificate of Education. I am a person-centred teacher with many years' experience in mentoring: This means I will work with you-- whatever your challenges to learning-- to achieve your best possible outcomes at A-Level and GCSE. The most important skill at this stage is writing essays in response to exam questions and I will teach you to do this in order to achieve the best results

Excellent! Marian's technical knowledge and attention to detail is excellent. She's sensitive to different learning styles and ability levels providing thoughtful, incisive feedback and marking of a high quality. She's also very easy to get along with! We have been using her via email and Skype to improve exam question answering technique and to work more accurately within an exam board marking scheme.

Marian is a gentle kind person but one who is exacting in her standards regarding her subject. She is articulate and is able to explain things thoroughly. She has experience in teaching her subjects at GCSE and A level and also has experience with "home schooling" having taught one of her sons for two years.
She has a first class degree from the University of London and has a PGCE as well as additional courses though the OU in psychology.
Since I am related to her I have an intrinsic bias but would recommend her without hesitation.
Dr. Katherine Hawley MD MRCGPI have known Marian for 16 years. She is very patient, loyal, trustworthy and kind . She has exceptional teaching and tutoring qualities and I would highly recommend her for this position.

Details
My rates include brief marking for an AS or A-Level essay (on the topic covered) to predict the level attained; or exam-style responses for GCSE (submitted via email). I am happy to do extra marking by arrangement, including thorough feedback on essays and a predicted grade.
For travel within 7Km I charge £3 over the base rate.
For travel from 7-18Km I charge £5 over the base rate.
I am willing to discuss tutoring 2-3 students together if an assessment shows them to be at similar stages of learning and aptitude.
