About Rebecca
I have been a tutor and teacher for over 4 years and as a Secondary Science Teacher and Examiner, I am passionate about students achieving success in their Science GCSEs.
My role as a science teacher sees me teaching KS3 and KS4 science for 40 hrs a fortnight. I am well versed in tailoring lessons to the individual needs of pupils, with the aim of each student making outstanding progress in science.
One of the biggest hurdles students have when it comes to their GCSEs is not understanding how to answer exam questions. It is my aim that at the end of each session students will not only come away more confident on science content, but with better understanding of how to answer exam questions - specifically the do's and dont's. This will make the difference between a good and an outstanding grade.

Lessons will be most appropriate for students studying for their GCSEs (Yr10 and Yr11) for one hour.
I will first establish your child's strengths and weaknesses by assessing their prior knowledge on the topic being covered. Based on this I will reteach content and check student understanding through mini tasks and questioning.
Once your child has understood the content, this knowledge will be applied to exam questions and detailed instructions will be given on how to answer these questions based on the trigger word (e.g. state, describe, explain). These exam questions are scaffolded, progressing from easier to harder, and differentiated by student ability.
Once completed your child will self assess their exam questions and reflect on how to improve their answers, and feedback will be provided by myself. These answers will then be used to adapt future lessons to the individual needs of the pupil (e.g. whether to reteach or move onto a new topic).
