About Shirou
Hello there,
My name is Shirou. I am a fully qualified Medical Doctor from the UK with a PG Cert in Education (With Hons). Whilst I loved my clinical work, teaching has always been something I’ve done alongside it. Having found my earlier years at school challenging and at times completely untailored to the way I learned, I have developed a deep understanding of how different every student can be.
In fact, during my own time at school, I was once told on numerous occasions that I would never make it to medical school. Rather than allowing that to define my future, I worked hard to achieve my dream of becoming a doctor. That journey has given me a strong appreciation of the importance of having someone who believes in you, particularly when you may not yet believe in yourself.
Over the years, I have learned to recognize and harness each student's unique strengths, learning style and potential, rather than expecting every student to learn in the same way. My aim is not simply to help students achieve better grades, but to help them understand how they learn best, build confidence in their abilities, and ultimately become more independent and motivated learners.
As a doctor and educator, I bring a combination of strong academic knowledge, teaching experience and an understanding of the pressures that students can face.
I believe that there is no such thing as a bad student and only a bad teacher. Every student is capable of success when they are given the right support and encouragement and I would love to help you achieve your goals.

My approach to teaching is personalized, supportive and focused on helping students genuinely understand a subject rather than simply memorizing content. I typically begin by developing a strong understanding of the core concepts through clear, step-by-step explanations, before applying them to different scenarios and questions. Once a topic is mastered, we consolidate learning through a range of exam-style questions, gradually increasing in difficulty to build both knowledge and confidence. I tailor every lesson to the individual student, adapting my teaching style to their strengths and learning preferences. Lessons are typically 60 minutes, although this can be adapted depending on the student’s age and individual needs.
I have over 10 years of tutoring experience and hold a PG Cert in Education (with Hons), alongside my qualification as a UK Medical Doctor. I teach students across a range of ages and abilities, from younger students looking to build confidence and strengthen their foundations, to those preparing for important examinations and competitive university entry into demanding academic courses.
