About Mona
Hi Maths learners! My name is Mona and for the past 8 years I have been a teacher around the world. I first started teaching English as a foreign language and have a CELTA that I successfully used in France, South Korea, Colombia and the U.K. A few years ago I returned home to London to do my PGCE. This means that I am a qualified Maths teacher in the UK and have taught at secondary schools in London. Right now I’m living in France and tutoring online. My students are from all over the world but mostly from the U.K. up to GCSE level. I’ve always loved teaching and really enjoy sharing my knowledge and passion with my students. I am very patient and friendly and will help you to feel comfortable while learning Maths. I have lots of great resources and subscriptions as well as techniques and tricks that will make answering questions easier. Of course, if I am your tutor, I will be sharing these all with you.

Everyone can be good at Maths. Nothing is daunting when you have the basic knowledge and skills and that is when your confidence grows and it starts to get fun. My methodology is focused on finding weak areas or misconceptions first and working on these so that the foundation becomes stronger. This will be done topic by topic, depending on what you need. I do this by using informal quizzes and tests, disguised as games for younger learners, and having a variety of ways of explaining difficult concepts. My lessons are always student-centred meaning that we will go at your pace and your level of understanding. We will then work through more and more challenging questions till you are confident to broach the material on your own. I am a qualified Maths teacher specialising in teaching Maths at the secondary school level and have over 8 years of teaching experience. I have taught all age ranges and abilities, as well as students whose first language isn’t English. No matter who you are, I will guide you through the learning with patience and kindness. With the Covid crisis many children throughout the world lost vital learning time and now that schools are open again, many may feel that they have fallen behind. If this is you then I will help you to catch up. I will provide a tailor-made plan, according to the National Curriculum, which we can follow to ensure we cover everything you need to bring you back up to where you need to be. Some people like to follow what they are studying at school with their tutor. If this is what you would like then all you would need to do is tell me what you are learning and I will supplement this in our sessions. You might be a student looking to take your GCSEs, in which case, I have a fast track course which will cover all relevant material for your examination body, e.g. Edexcel, AQA, iGCSE etc. Or you might be a student who just wants to improve and focus on certain topics of your choice. That’s brilliant! We can cover whatever you need and I will introduce you to challenges and stretch you further. You will find my lessons well planned and with a clear structure. I use interactive resources and worksheets as well as an online whiteboard so you will always have all the information you need and will feel like we are in the same room together. I will share all resources we use with you so you can access them again in your own time and will provide you with homework so you get the practice you need. My lessons are ideal for secondary aged students or anyone looking to take their GCSE or IGCSE exams. They will last one hour and I can be flexible depending on your needs. Most importantly, as your tutor, I will make our sessions enjoyable and stimulating. You are guaranteed to see your confidence grow and your Maths learning progress. Whatever your Maths goals are, I will help you to realise them, and look forward to working with you.
