About Sophie
I am a qualified secondary Maths teacher with a Mathematics degree from the University of St Andrews and over 10 years’ tutoring experience. I currently teach GCSE, A-Level and Further Maths and have experience working with students of a wide range of abilities, including students with SEN. I am passionate about helping students build their confidence and enjoy Maths. I believe every student can make progress with the right support, and I tailor my teaching to suit each student’s individual needs and goals.

My lessons are tailored to each student’s individual needs, whether they are looking to fill gaps in their knowledge, build confidence or prepare for exams. I explain concepts clearly and break more difficult topics down into manageable steps before moving on to guided practice and exam-style questions. I regularly check understanding and adapt my teaching and pace where needed, particularly for students with SEN or different learning needs. My aim is not only to help students improve their results, but also to develop their confidence and become increasingly independent in their learning.

I’m really enjoying my tutor sessions with Sophie and I am really benefiting from them. Sophie goes through things clearly and slowly so I can pick things up and we do exam style questions which are very helpful. I also really enjoy the game at the start of the session to warm up! Really recommend this tutoring.
