About Monica

I am a patient and caring person with a strong vocation for teaching. I began tutoring at the age of 15, when one of my former teachers invited me and a small group of classmates to assist at his institute. Over time, I gained valuable experience managing groups of up to eight children from different grades and schools.

During my years at the institute, we were trained to help students develop their own learning strategies, understanding that every child processes information and interacts with others in a unique way. In recent years, I have continued working independently, guiding students through consistent progress—from daily classes to the point where my support was no longer needed. My goal as a tutor is always to equip students with the tools and confidence they need to become independent learners.

My experience with students diagnosed with ADHD began through specific cases, where I gradually developed methods to help them visualize and understand math differently. Using colors, structured worksheets, and personalized approaches, I found that these students can achieve the same academic level as their peers when guided with patience and adaptability.

I adjust my communication style to each student’s social and emotional needs. With some, I use a friendly and humorous tone to make learning enjoyable; with others, I maintain a calmer and more structured approach when that suits their personality better.

Teaching has been a meaningful part of my life for many years, and I take pride in helping students not only improve their math skills but also build confidence and curiosity toward learning.

I usually begin with an initial diagnostic lesson to identify gaps in the student’s basic math knowledge. I start by assessing their understanding of their current curriculum and gradually trace back to foundational concepts—such as fractions, powers, multiplication tables, and basic arithmetic operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).

This evaluation is done through their schoolwork or homework exercises, which helps me observe how they reason and apply what they’ve learned. Based on the results and the frequency of our sessions, I organize specific lessons to strengthen and fill in these gaps. I believe that having a solid grasp of fundamental math concepts is essential to successfully understanding more advanced topics.

During lessons, I explain the methodology behind each topic and use small, relatable examples to simplify complex ideas when needed. Rather than giving the answers directly, I guide students step by step to find the solutions themselves, encouraging independent thinking and problem-solving skills.

In the case of children with ADHD, our learning process will depend on the level of complementarity we develop, which can be determined after the first session. This allows me to adapt teaching strategies according to each child’s focus patterns, energy levels, and individual needs.

I believe that the success of my work depends on both sides: my commitment to guide and teach effectively, and the student’s own interest and willingness to learn. Building this shared responsibility fosters motivation and long-term progress.

My lessons are designed for children and teenagers (ages 8–16) who want to improve their understanding of arithmetic and algebra, including students with ADHD or learning difficulties who benefit from personalized, patient guidance.
