About Frances
I qualified as an English and Media Studies teacher in 1995. I taught mainstream KS3 and GCSE English Language, Literature and Media Studies A Level English Literature. I also privately tutored children, from 11+ to GCSE and A-level. I then worked as a teacher in an alternative provision academy for young people unable to attend their mainstream school due to complex medical, mental health, SEND, or behavioural needs, where I taught GCSE English, Maths, Psychology, Science and History. I then became Head of School and subsequently Principal. I led the academy until August 2025, when I decided to step down from the role so I could devote more time to tutoring. I feel passionately about enabling all children to learn to the best of their ability.

I meticulously plan and structure each lesson to meet the individual needs of every pupil. Personalisation is key - the curriculum I provide is bespoke, and programmes of study are designed to meet each child's particular needs at that moment in time. My approach is flexible. I adapt the teaching and learning to give pupils the knowledge and skills they need.
