About Me With over two decades of military service spanning both regular and reserve roles, I bring a unique blend of real-world emergency experience and professional instruction to first aid training. As a commissioned Army Reserve Officer and Learning Development Officer, I've specialised in delivering high-quality training that combines theoretical knowledge with practical application. My journey began in the British Army as a Mechanical Engineer (REME), where I deployed on operations in Iraq, Northern Ireland, and Afghanistan. These challenging environments honed my ability to make critical decisions under pressure—skills I now translate into accessible, scenario-based first aid training. After attending the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, I transferred to the Educational and Training Services (ETS), where I've focused on developing effective training programmes. Beyond my military career, I have delivered first aid and safety training for the last 9 years, from our site in Liverpool City Centre. My qualifications include a BA (Hons) in History, a Professional Certificate in Education and Training, and a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management. I hold Fellowship status with the Institute of Leadership (FIoL) and maintain Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) certification through the Society for Education & Training. I'm passionate about empowering others with the knowledge and confidence to respond effectively in emergency situations. My teaching approach balances thorough technical instruction with engaging, practical scenarios, ensuring learners develop both competence and confidence in their first aid abilities. My Approach to First Aid Training As a qualified First Aid Instructor with extensive military experience, I deliver comprehensive, engaging, and practical first aid training tailored to your specific needs. My teaching methodology combines theoretical knowledge with scenario-based learning, ensuring you develop both the understanding and confidence to respond effectively in emergency situations. Training Methodology My training follows the Qualsafe Awards curriculum, incorporating: Clear theoretical explanations of first aid principles and procedures Practical demonstrations of essential techniques Hands-on practice with appropriate equipment Realistic scenario-based exercises to build confidence Interactive discussions addressing common misconceptions and questions Regular assessment to ensure knowledge retention Whether delivered remotely or onsite, my training maintains the highest standards of quality and engagement. Remote sessions utilise interactive digital tools to ensure effective learning, while onsite training maximises hands-on practice with appropriate equipment. Course Lengths and Options I offer a range of course options to suit various needs: Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) - 6 hours (1 day) First Aid at Work (FAW) - 18 hours (3 days) First Aid at Work Requalification - 12 hours (2 days) Mental Health First Aid - 14 hours (2 days) Basic Life Support and AED - 3 hours Bespoke courses - Tailored to your specific requirements All courses include comprehensive learning materials and, upon successful completion, certification recognised by employers and meeting HSE requirements.
