Most GCSE History students don’t struggle with the content — they struggle with turning that content into clear, high‑mark essays. If you feel overwhelmed by trying to remember everything or unsure how to structure exam answers, you’re not alone.
I specialise in helping GCSE students understand exactly what examiners reward. Instead of memorising endless facts, I teach you how to break down questions, choose the right evidence, and write essays that follow the logic examiners use when marking.
My lessons focus on:
Understanding examiner expectations
Using proven essay structures for each question type
Selecting evidence that strengthens your argument
Writing clear, confident paragraphs
Practising real exam questions with personalised feedback
Students I work with often say they finally “get” what examiners want and feel far less stressed because they no longer try to memorise everything — they know how to think like an examiner.
If you want to write stronger, clearer, examiner‑friendly essays, send me a message and we’ll start with a short diagnostic to see exactly where you can gain marks quickly.

James taught my son GCSE History in years 10 and 11. He also helped him with managing his revision tasks and schedule for exams.
In lessons, he would always make sure we are understanding the topic and would go over parts again if I or someone else was stuck.
Outside of lessons he was always happy to explain some important information in greater detail.
Overall he’s an understanding and patient teacher who is always supportive towards all students.I worked alongside James for two years in secondary education. I am lucky to have had the privilege to line manage such an exceptional educator. As inspirational as he was diligent, he truly brought passion and aspiration to the classroom. He made exceptional progress with his students and always ensured that no one was left behind. He won’t just ensure you succeed, he will make sure you enjoy the journey too!
He used to be my history teacher and I never used to understand any of it but the way he broke it down for me made it understandable and fun🥹 he's also really funny and kind
I am Principal of Weavers Academy and having worked alongside James he is a dedicated professional who always remains child centred and has high standards academically and pastorally. We will certainly miss him and his contributions at our school.
I worked with James for two years and he was incredibly passionate about his work. He always put students first and played a huge role in improving the culture, helping to build a genuinely positive and supportive history department.
