About Maya

I have been a Spanish teacher for the past 5 years and I am looking to expand my horizons onto tutoring privately. I have a supportive, encouraging nature and always promote a culture of success in my lessons. I understand that languages can be difficult, I have learnt three foreign languages myself! With this in mind, I look out for potential pitfalls and do everything I can to help my students through their difficulties, whether it’s with speaking confidence, vocabulary retention, or grammar rules.

About the lesson

Hi! I’m Maya. I am a fully qualified MFL teacher holding both a Bachelor's degree and a PGCE in Spanish. I have lived and taught in Spain and have five years of teaching experience. I also speak Portuguese, and I am offering private tuition to individuals and small groups. I am based in Newcastle Upon Tyne but I am happy to work remotely too. I can provide 1-2 hour lessons on a weekly or bi-weekly basis to suit the needs of my client. I have experience teaching up to GCSE standard and I am also a qualified examiner so can provide support for exam prep. I am also happy to teach adult students on a more conversational basis, whatever suits your needs!

Without Maya’s tutoring I don’t think I would have passed my Spanish GCSE. She explains things clearly and with so much patience. She has great communication skills, great subject knowledge and a great sense of humour. Ten out of ten

I’ve really enjoyed taking lessons with Maya. She makes the lessons fun and easy to follow. She has a way of explaining things that makes sense to me. The sessions never feel dry or boring, and I’ve noticed real progress since starting. If you’re looking for someone who’s friendly and knows her stuff I'd definitely recommend Maya.

She has a current DBS check and is very familiar with preparing students for oral and written examinations. And she's friendly and approachable so lessons are very relaxed.

Maya helped me with Spanish when I couldn’t get to grips with grammar on my own. Now I feel much more confident in conversation with native speakers! Gracias!
