About Drasti
As a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (FIA) with a background in Statistics and Analytics, I bring a strong mix of technical depth and practical insight to my teaching. I’ve spent the past several years working in actuarial modeling, risk analytics, and pricing — applying exactly the same mathematical and statistical principles I now teach. My approach is analytical, structured, and student-focused. I don’t just help students memorize formulas — I teach them how to think like analysts and problem-solvers. Whether you’re preparing for university exams, actuarial papers, or looking to strengthen your technical modeling skills, I’ll help you build confidence through understanding, not rote learning. Students value my ability to break down complex concepts clearly, connect theory to real-world applications, and push them to achieve mastery step by step. My classes are professional, well-prepared, and designed to help you see measurable progress in every session. Above all, I take pride in maintaining high standards of clarity, accuracy, and professionalism in everything I teach.

My approach:
I teach with a focus on clarity, application, and critical thinking. My goal isn’t just to help students pass exams — it’s to help them understand the logic behind statistical and financial models so they can apply it confidently in academic, actuarial, or data science settings.
I combine conceptual explanation with real-world examples from insurance, risk modelling, and analytics — the same methods I’ve used professionally as an actuary. Every topic is linked to how it’s used in practice, so students learn not only what to do but why it matters.
I encourage students to question assumptions, interpret results critically, and approach problems like analysts, not rote learners.
Techniques and Methodology:
I start by diagnosing each student’s current level and learning goals. Sessions are structured around problem-solving, data interpretation, and hands-on exercises using Python or R where relevant. For theoretical topics (like probability, distributions, or stochastic models), I use visual and numerical intuition — not just formulas. I regularly assign short, practical exercises between sessions to reinforce learning. I focus on progress tracking — identifying weak spots early and building mastery step by step.
Typical lesson length:
Lessons are typically 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the topic depth and student preference. Longer sessions are available for advanced modelling or project-based learning.
Qualifications and Experience:
I’m a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (FIA) with a major in Statistics and Analytics and over 4 years of professional experience in actuarial modelling, risk analytics, and pricing. I’ve built and validated statistical and financial models using Python, R, and Excel, and bring that real-world expertise into my teaching to bridge theory with practice.
Who are my lessons for:
-University students studying actuarial science, statistics, economics, finance, or data science.
-Actuarial students preparing for IFoA or Australian institute exams (CS1/CS2, CB1/CB2, SP/SA levels).
-Professionals or graduates who want to build modelling, Python, or R skills for analytics or risk roles.
-Occasionally, I teach high school students (Year 11–12) aiming to build a strong foundation in statistics and probability.
