As a tutor, my approach focuses on adaptability, clarity, and engagement. Here’s a breakdown of how I share my knowledge:
Teaching Method and Techniques
1. Adaptability: I tailor my teaching methods to fit each student’s learning style, whether they prefer visual aids, hands-on practice, or theoretical explanations.
2. Conceptual Understanding: I also stress the fact that they need to really learn the basics before moving on to harder things. This often involves breaking down concepts into manageable parts.
3. Active Learning: I employ various "active learning" techniques such as problem-solving exercises, quizzes, and discussions to maintain student interest and to enhance learning.
4. Scaffolding: I slowly build up the difficulty of the problems as the student's comprehension expands, because I know they must have that strong base for the higher level work.
Typical Lesson Plan
1. Introduction: Go over old information or evaluate where the student is at that time to establish a relationship between new knowledge and known information.
2. Presentation: When introducing new ideas, explain them, give examples, and provide related materials.
3. Guided Practice: work out problems or exercises, help eachother out, give feedback etc.
4. Independent Practice: Provide exercises for the student to complete on their own, applying what they've learned.
5. Review and Assessment: Review the main points of the lesson, answer any questions, and then have a quiz or discussion to see if the students understood the lessons.
6. Homework/Follow-up: Give related practice problems, and if needed, recommend supplementary reading.
What Sets Me Apart
- Custom Approach: I also change my approaches according to the student's response and improvement, I provide the individual teaching.
- Clear Explanations: I try to break down complex ideas into easy to understand laymans terms, thus the hard stuff becomes a lot more approachable.
- Encouraging Growth: My emphasis is not just on short-term academic objectives, but also on the student’s ability to solve problems and think critically.
Target Audience
- Degree and Level: I work with a broad range of students, from high school to college level, and even beyond, depending on the subject.
- *Specificities: I can assist with various subjects, including mathematics, science, literature, and more. And my method can be flexible to various curriculums and goals of learning.
Overall, my goal is to empower students to understand and master their subjects while building confidence in their abilities.
