About Nathan
As a senior studying Nuclear Engineering at Purdue University, I have developed a strong foundation in mathematics through years of rigorous coursework and problem-solving. As a Nuclear Engineering senior at Purdue University, I approach tutoring with patience, structure, and a focus on true understanding. Mathematics often becomes difficult for students when concepts feel rushed or disconnected, so my goal is to slow down the process and build each topic step by step. I explain the reasoning behind formulas and methods so students understand why a solution works, not just how to get the answer.
During lessons, I typically begin by identifying what the student already understands and where confusion begins. From there, we review the key concept in simple terms and work through examples together. I guide the student through problems step-by-step, gradually giving them more independence as their confidence improves. Practice problems are an important part of the process because they reinforce the concept and help students develop problem-solving habits that they can apply on exams and homework.
What sets me apart is my engineering background and my emphasis on clarity and patience. As a Purdue engineering student, I use mathematics constantly in real problem-solving situations, so I am comfortable breaking down complex topics into simpler ideas. I also understand that every student learns differently, so I adapt my explanations and pace to match the student’s needs.
My lessons are designed for middle school, high school, and early college students who need help with mathematics.
