About Katherine
I am a poet, crocheter, and instructor for kindergarten through college-age students. I have an MFA in poetry and a bachelor's in English and Psychology. My teaching experience includes both group settings and one-on-one settings. My formal specialties are teaching writing and reading, including composition, rhetoric, and literature. I would also love to share my creative flair in crocheting as well as poetry and creative writing more generally.

My teaching philosophy and approach seeks to foster independence in and support my students. I work to break the concept or task down into smaller parts to help my students gain tools that they can take with them and apply beyond the tutoring session. My major goals for my students are to gain confidence in the skill or concept we are working on and to gain autonomy as we move through the material.
