About Sam

I'm Sam! I'm a writer, published poet and spoken-word performer with a real passion for language, literature and helping people find their confidence through writing.

Alongside my creative work, I have a professional background in writing, research and communications, particularly within sustainability and social impact. I've spent years developing everything from detailed reports and persuasive written proposals to articles, poetry and creative pieces, so I understand how important it is to communicate ideas clearly and effectively.

My poetry has been featured in literary publications, including the Madrid Review and BBC Upload, and I've performed at a range of spoken word events and poetry nights. I've also had the opportunity to work with young people through creative writing and poetry workshops, encouraging them to explore their imagination, express themselves and discover that writing doesn't have to be intimidating.

I've always loved the way language can connect people. Whether it's a line in a poem, a favourite song lyric or a passage from a novel, I think words have an incredible ability to help us understand ourselves and the world around us. That's something I try to bring into my lessons.

I'm friendly, patient and approachable, and I know that everyone learns differently. I want my students to feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and developing at their own pace. Whether you're studying English at school, hoping to improve your writing or simply looking to explore your creative side, I'll do my best to make every lesson enjoyable, supportive and genuinely useful.

Most importantly, I believe writing is something everyone can develop with the right encouragement, curiosity and practice. I'd love to help you discover what you're capable of!

I believe everyone has something worth saying, and sometimes all it takes is a bit of encouragement, confidence and guidance to find the words.

I'm a published poet, spoken word performer and professional writer based. My work has appeared in literary publications, and I've performed at poetry events and festivals across the UK. I've also delivered creative writing and poetry workshops for young people, helping them explore language, develop their ideas and find their own voice.

My approach to tutoring is relaxed, encouraging and tailored to the individual. I don't believe there's one correct way to write or learn, and I want my lessons to feel like a space where people can experiment, ask questions and build confidence without worrying about getting everything right.

Depending on what you're looking for, we might explore poetry, storytelling, creative writing techniques, analysing literature, essay structure or developing your English language skills. I like to use examples from literature, music and everyday life to make lessons engaging and relevant. We'll combine discussion, practical writing exercises and constructive feedback, with plenty of opportunities to develop your own ideas.

Lessons typically last 60 minutes, although I'm happy to offer shorter sessions depending on your needs.

My lessons are suitable for secondary school and GCSE students, beginners, aspiring poets and writers, and adults who simply want to improve their writing or explore something creative. Whether you're preparing for an exam, working on a poem or wanting to become a more confident writer, I'll adapt our sessions to your goals and interests.

Above all, I want people to leave each lesson feeling more confident in their abilities and excited about what they can create.
