About Dorothy
Hello. My name is Dorothy.
I am a certified mathematics teacher with 23 years of experience in delivering individualized instruction to classified students, providing online lessons and homework assistance in Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, basic Geometry, and Algebra II.
I used to struggle in math. I aim to alleviate the fear associated with the subject and lay the groundwork for taking more advanced classes.
More About Me:
I have been a mathematics teacher since 2002. Over the years, I have worked in three different out-of-district placement schools that served various populations of children. I spent the first twelve and a half years of my career in a small, private school for classified students. I also worked at the State of New Jersey, under the direction of the Office of Education, in a Department of Children and Families Regional school for six and a half years, working with children with Emotional Regulation Impairment issues. For the last four years, I have worked in a private school for children with disabilities. I am beginning my 24th year as a mathematics teacher.
Most of my experience involves teaching classes that span multiple grade levels, math courses, and ability levels concurrently. Many students require more attention, reteaching, and practice. Classes structured in this way allow those who have grasped concepts the opportunity to move on to other skills, and those who need extra time and further instruction the time to practice and gain confidence in their abilities.
