About Harper
I have 8 years of experience teaching Computer Programming, supporting learners from their first steps in coding to advanced software development skills. I earned an M.Sc in Information Technology, which provided me with deep understanding of algorithms, system design, and modern computing practices. Over the years, I have guided students in building strong foundations that allow them to grow into confident programmers who approach challenges with clarity and structured reasoning.
My teaching philosophy emphasizes patience, adaptability, and empowerment. I break down complex topics into manageable steps, using analogies, guided practice, and consistent feedback. I encourage students to ask questions freely, explore creative solutions, and develop independence through understanding rather than memorization. Whether learners are studying for school, preparing for careers, or coding for personal interest, I provide structured support that matches their goals.
Outside of tutoring, I remain engaged with programming through personal projects, exploring emerging technologies, and continual learning. Teaching programming is deeply fulfilling because it gives students one of the most valuable skills of the modern world. Computer Programming becomes much more approachable when learners understand that coding is simply structured problem solving expressed through logic. In my lessons, I guide students through programming fundamentals with clarity, patience, and hands-on practice that builds confidence steadily. We explore Python, Java, algorithms, and software logic through exercises that help learners understand how small steps combine into powerful solutions. I create a warm learning environment where students feel comfortable experimenting, making mistakes, and improving through supportive feedback.
Lesson plans are personalized for each learner’s level. Beginners start with variables, loops, conditionals, and basic program flow. Intermediate students strengthen debugging skills, modular design, object-oriented programming, and project development. Advanced learners focus on algorithms, data structures, optimization, APIs, and interview or exam preparation. Each session emphasizes understanding why code works, ensuring learners develop independence rather than relying on memorization.
Programming builds creativity, resilience, and analytical thinking. As students progress, they gain excitement from seeing their ideas come to life through working programs. My goal is to help learners feel empowered by coding, confident in their ability to solve problems, and motivated to explore the modern world of technology.
