About Jolene
I discovered programming as a tool for creating solutions and expressing ideas logically, which led me to earn a Bachelor’s in Computer Science. Over the past 9 years, I have taught students of varying abilities, helping them develop confidence and skill in coding through patient, structured guidance and hands-on practice.
I focus on interactive, applied learning that builds problem-solving skills and independent thinking. Lessons incorporate examples, guided exercises, and coding challenges to help learners understand concepts thoroughly. Students are encouraged to explore, experiment, and approach problems analytically to strengthen both competence and confidence.
Outside teaching, I stay engaged with technology trends, new programming tools, and software development methods. This allows me to provide up-to-date knowledge and real-world context for learners. Teaching programming is deeply rewarding because I witness students grow from hesitation to mastery, developing critical thinking, structured problem-solving, and creativity. Helping students achieve practical skills and confidence in programming remains the most fulfilling part of my work.

Programming becomes accessible when learners understand the logical flow behind code. My lessons focus on Python, Java, algorithms, data structures, debugging, and software development practices with clear explanations, interactive examples, and hands-on exercises. I emphasise building problem-solving skills and structured thinking while fostering creativity and confidence. Students are encouraged to experiment, analyse outcomes, and develop solutions step by step, turning abstract concepts into practical applications.
Lesson content is adapted to the learner’s level. Beginners learn basic syntax, loops, conditions, and simple programmes with patient guidance. Intermediate learners focus on object-oriented programming, functions, debugging, and modular design. Advanced learners work on algorithms, optimisation, API usage, and project-based problem-solving. Exercises, real-world examples, and coding challenges are incorporated to reinforce understanding and promote independent learning.
Studying programming develops logical reasoning, creativity, and persistence. Students gain confidence in coding, debugging, and designing functional programmes while learning to approach problems analytically. My aim is to help learners not only excel in programming but also develop transferable skills such as structured thinking, creativity, and persistence. By guiding students from basic understanding to project-based application, I strive to equip them with the knowledge, confidence, and problem-solving ability to tackle challenges in programming and beyond.
