About Emma
I have spent 10 years developing my expertise in programming, earning a B.Sc in Computer Science and an M.Sc in Software Engineering and Programming. I have taught students across diverse backgrounds, helping them develop technical skills, logical reasoning, and computational confidence. My lessons focus on building strong foundations while encouraging creative exploration and independent problem-solving.
My teaching style emphasises adaptability, clarity, and student engagement. I integrate structured coding exercises, project-based learning, and interactive feedback to ensure students understand concepts deeply and apply them effectively. I encourage learners to experiment, make mistakes safely, and develop both competence and creativity in coding.
Outside the classroom, I continually explore new languages, frameworks, and software projects to keep lessons current and relevant. Teaching programming is deeply fulfilling because I witness students evolve from uncertainty to confidence, mastering logical problem-solving and creative implementation, gaining skills that empower them academically, professionally, and personally.

Programming lessons are most effective when learners understand both the logic and the practical application of code. My sessions cover Python, Java, algorithms, object-oriented programming, data structures, and software design principles. I incorporate hands-on coding exercises, real-world projects, problem-solving challenges, and step-by-step guidance to foster analytical thinking, creativity, and computational confidence. Each lesson is structured to encourage experimentation, troubleshooting, and independent coding while reinforcing fundamental concepts.
Lesson plans are personalised to the learner’s experience and goals. Beginners explore basic syntax, loops, conditionals, variables, and simple programmes. Intermediate learners develop structured functions, modular projects, debugging strategies, and algorithmic reasoning. Advanced learners focus on complex algorithms, API integration, optimisation, and large-scale project design. Regular feedback, challenges, and interactive exercises ensure steady progression and mastery at all levels.
Learning programming strengthens problem-solving, analytical reasoning, and computational thinking. Students gain confidence in designing solutions, testing code, and implementing projects independently.
