About Peter
Hi. I’m Pete. I’m a professional writer, writing tutor and mentor, and arts and well-being facilitator. In my varied work life, I write marketing content for various businesses, particularly dentists. I am also an arts and well-being facilitator. This means I deliver one-to-one sessions and group writing workshops which focus on using creativity to not only improve the participant’s skills, but also to boost their mental health. I am now offering one-to-one creative writing tuition and mentoring for adults, tailored to your personal writing goals.
I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember. As a young child, I would obsessively create comics. Then, as a teenager, I would write song lyrics for my band to perform. Soon, I began writing plays, and I studied theatre with the specific aim of developing my skills writing for theatre and screen, and followed my drama degree with a Master's in Scriptwriting. Along the way, I have found a passion for writing poetry and fiction. I’ve even turned to comedy, writing and performing in two comedy double acts and taking my writing to the stages of the Buxton and Edinburgh Fringe Festivals.
As a neurodiverse writer, I’ve developed my practice so that I can better manage the more challenging elements of my ADHD and reap the rewards of the positive side. In addition, I’ve undertaken courses to better understand autism and ADHD, and have worked with countless neurodiverse creatives. If you’re a neurodiverse writer, I can provide you with the support and understanding you need to realise your potential.

WAHWN Stepping In Mentee
In 2024, I was one of four mentees selected for the first Stepping In programme run by Wales Arts Health and Wellbeing Network. This involved a week of residential training, during which I honed my facilitation skills and learned more about supporting people’s mental health needs through my creative writing. The programme also involved an internship with People Speak Up, a Carmarthenshire-based arts and wellbeing charity. Here, I ran writing workshops and worked on the award-winning Creative Home Delivery Service project. Once my internship was complete, I worked as a freelancer for People Speak Up on the home delivery project before being hired directly for a deeper involvement.

What To Expect From Your Sessions
Your sessions will generally last up to one hour and take place on Zoom. Your first session will be FREE. During this initial call, we’ll talk about what you’d like to get out of the sessions. This first meeting is an opportunity to get to know each other a little better and find out whether we’re the right fit for working together. It’s also the perfect time for you to ask me any questions.
Once we’ve had a chance to meet and talk, I can devise a plan for the agreed number of sessions you’d like to have with me. I’m happy to work with you for a small, fixed number of sessions (e.g. 4-8), or indefinitely on a rolling basis.
Here are some of the ways you could use your sessions.
- Providing mentoring support for big writing projects like novels, plays, and scripts. This might include helping you with plotting and structure, developing characters, style and pacing, or advising you on strategies to manage the writing process, maintain focus, and stay motivated.
- I can help you gain confidence with shorter-form writing, such as poems, short stories, and songs. This may involve exploring different types of writing, with me setting exercises and providing feedback.
- Helping you get inspired. Writer’s block is the worst! If you’ve hit a wall, maybe I can help? I have several proven strategies for helping get that pen or cursor moving again.
- As an experienced copywriter, I can teach the basics of writing marketing copy like blog posts and web page content. It’s a tough industry, and it’s getting harder to make a living from it, but I can also provide advice on working as a freelance copywriter.
- Writing for well-being. Mental health struggles can affect us all. I know this first-hand. Not only have I used creative writing as a way to improve my own mental health, but I’ve also encouraged others to write for their well-being, too. I can offer sessions tailored to help combat mental health struggles. Often, this includes more mindful writing and prompt-inspired exercises that help you process your feelings.
- Neurodiverse writing support. If you have, or believe you have, ADHD or autism, I can provide tailored support to help you hone your writing style and practice.
I am friendly and supportive, and I’m a firm believer that self-belief is one of the biggest barriers to creativity. Whatever type of writing you’d like to do, and however you plan to use the skills you’ll develop, I want to help you build confidence in your words.
You’ll find me open, empathetic, and honest, and I often use humour to connect with others.
and your writing goals.
