About Kate
I am a vocal instructor with 6 years of experience teaching singing and musicianship. I earned a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance with a focus on Lieder and Art Song. This background supports healthy vocal production. My specialty is jazz and blues vocal improvisation. I help singers feel comfortable improvising. Scat singing is taught clearly and patiently. Students learn how to create melodies freely. Melodic embellishment is explored through guided exercises. I teach how to add expression with control. Advanced harmony is introduced gradually. Theory is always connected to sound. Ear training plays a major role in my lessons. Students develop strong listening skills. Scale and chord theory are applied directly to vocal lines.
