About Tara
I've been playing guitar for over 12 years and have been performing live for the past 9 as a professional touring musician. Rock music has always been my passion, and I especially love punk, grunge, metal, and hard rock.
I currently play in two active bands, performing on both guitar and bass, and have experience touring, recording, songwriting, and playing live shows. In addition to guitar and bass, I'm a classically trained pianist with Grade 8 piano and music theory, which gives me a strong understanding of the technical side of music. I also perform and record on piano and percussion.
Whether you're interested in learning your favorite songs, improving your technique, understanding music theory, writing your own music, or preparing to play in a band, I'd love to help you reach your goals.
Lessons are tailored to each student and can be as theory-focused or practical as you'd like. I teach from my home, where I have a variety of guitars, amps, and pedals available for learning about tone and gear. I'm also happy to travel to students for lessons.
Above all, I aim to create a relaxed, encouraging environment where students can build confidence and have fun while learning music.

No two students learn the same way, so I tailor every lesson to your experience, goals, and musical interests. Whether you're picking up an instrument for the first time or looking to sharpen advanced techniques, we'll build a plan that works for you.
I teach everything from basic chords, riffs, rhythm, and strumming to more advanced techniques like alternate picking, tapping, sweep picking, improvisation, and soloing. Along the way, we'll cover music theory, scales, chord progressions, songwriting, ear training, and how to learn songs efficiently so you can play the music you enjoy.
A typical lesson might start with a quick warm-up, followed by technique exercises, learning or refining a song, and finishing with theory or creative work like writing riffs, solos, or chord progressions. I'll also give you practical exercises to work on between lessons so you can keep improving at your own pace.
My goal is to make learning fun, motivating, and rewarding. As a professional touring musician, I can also share real-world insights on performing live, playing in bands, writing music, recording, and preparing for gigs.
Lessons are open to all ages and skill levels, from complete beginners to advanced players.
