About Mira
My name is Mira Mitrova, and I am a prize-winning Macedonian-American artist based in New Jersey, USA. Over the years, I have exhibited my work across the globe, including in Paris, Berlin, and New York. My artistic practice is deeply rooted in the spiritual and the natural world. I draw endless inspiration from the richness of nature, the beauty of flora and fauna, and the emotional complexity of modern life. My body of work, especially in Elemental Realms, explores the human desire to connect with the universe and uncover our own depths. Through dreamlike visions and layered symbolism, my art becomes a space of surrender and realization. I often explore subconscious narratives shaped by legend, memory, and folklore—mysteries that live deep within us. My creative expression is not limited to one form: I work across oil painting, acrylics, graphics, and mixed media to express life’s duality—its challenges and infinite possibilities. Themes such as isolation, imprisonment, and commodification are also central to my work. I strive to offer a visual statement on spiritual freedom and the human capacity to rise above desolation with imagination and strength. I was born in North Macedonia, where I studied graphics and graphic design at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Sts. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje. In 2004, I was honored with the Macedonian National Award for Poster Design, commemorating the 60th Anniversary of the Republic of Macedonia. Today, I continue to push the boundaries of what it means to be creative, both as an artist and educator, committed to sharing the transformative power of art with the world.
