About Alex
I’ve been playing guitar in different styles for over 30 years. I have an MA from Leeds Conservatoire (formerly Leeds College of Music) and a successful, established teaching business. I have recorded and toured with signed acts and played many festivals. I am a full-time professional musician and I’m here to help you take your first steps and beyond with the guitar.
I teach lessons in person at my studio in Brockley, South East London (TfL zone 2). Zoom lessons are also available. Whether you are studying grades, looking to improve your existing skills or just want to learn for fun, I can help you. I’m a friendly Northern bloke and I like to create a fun, relaxed environment for my students.
I regularly post guitar covers on TikTok, where I have an established following. My aim is to accurately reproduce the sound and feel of the original songs, with all of the same effects.

About the lesson

I cover all popular music styles on electric and acoustic guitar - i.e. indie, rock, R&B, metal, funk, emo, soul, shoegaze, folk, prog, punk, grunge etc.
Lessons are typically 30 minutes to 1 hour. I teach all levels from beginner to advanced. I have a very relaxed, fun approach and only focus on the music that you're interested in, unless you choose to follow the Rockschool syllabus (grades 1-8).
Technique and fundamental concepts are embedded into the lessons. You will learn to find your way around the fretboard as you learn to play your favourite songs!
I have taught students aged 5 to 80+ and I’m very proud of my reputation.
