About Alisdair
Hi, I’m Alisdair — professional drummer and experienced teacher With over 15 years of drumming experience and nearly a decade of teaching, I help students of all ages and abilities build real skills behind the kit. I’ve recorded for Universal and BBC Radio, giving me first-hand insight into professional music performance, which I bring into every lesson. I use a structured, tailored approach so every student experiences real progress from the first lesson. Kids follow the MDS Levels system, earning milestones and participating in showcases, while adults focus on the songs they love and goals that matter to them. Lessons are delivered in a friendly, professional, and supportive environment, designed to build confidence, rhythm, creativity, and lasting enjoyment. Whether you’re a complete beginner or returning to drumming after a break, my aim is simple: help you play better, enjoy the journey, and achieve real results.

My Approach to Tutoring and Teaching Drums I teach both kids and adults of all abilities — from complete beginners to more experienced players. Lessons are tailored to each student, focusing on the music you want to play and the skills you want to develop. Teaching Methodology & Techniques: I use the MDS Levels system, which breaks learning into clear, achievable steps. Students experience quick wins, build confidence, and make steady progress while having fun. Lessons combine: Learning your favourite songs Technique and rhythm exercises Improvisation and creativity Fun challenges and showcases (for kids) Lesson Length & Structure: Typical lessons are 30–60 minutes, depending on age, experience, and goals. Each session is structured to keep students motivated, engaged, and moving forward. Qualifications & Experience: I’ve been playing drums for over 15 years and teaching for nearly a decade. I’ve recorded for Universal and BBC Radio and have extensive experience working with learners of all ages. Who the Lessons Are For: Kids: Beginners to intermediate, with progress tracked through MDS Levels, and regular showcases for parents. Adults: Beginners or returning players, learning at their own pace, focusing on real songs and enjoyable progress. In short: my lessons are friendly, structured, and fun, helping every student develop real drumming skills and confidence.
