About Joanne
Greetings! I am Joanne, a professional Chinese writer and recipient of national prizes in Chinese language and history. I‘ve already published many e-books and articles in Chinese online. With years of experience teaching Chinese, I am known for my sense of humour and patience in guiding students to succeed in their language-learning goals.
For me, the Chinese language is more than just a tool for communication. Beneath its surface lies countless fascinating stories and insights into ancient Eastern culture. As a teacher, I am willing to share knowledge and enrich my student's understanding of a culture.

1. Chinese is a hieroglyph language. It used to be drawings and evolved into words. I would start with the shape of Chinese characters in remote antiquity, which helps to understand the origin and interest in another type of language and is also helpful in characters remembering. Drawing is a funny beginning, especially for children.
2. I am a good storyteller. I can talk about historical stories behind words. It's usually the start of the courses after the characters be learnt.
3. One course usually takes 40 mins. It could be discussed for a comfortable time length for you.
4. All levels are welcome.
P.S. For people who are interested in herstory, many Chinese characteristics still keep a trace of the matriarchal society. Also, I can do some introduction for Nvshu, which is the only language system created and maintained only by females in the world.
