About GERHARDT
I have started my cooking journey/studies in 2013 and graduated in 2015 City and Guilds. I worked as a Commis Chef for two months before I got promoted to CDP. I then took an opportunity to work in the UK for a couple of months. I returned back to SA in 2016 where I got promoted to Sous Chef in no time. In 2019 I left for USA where I ended up working as a head line cook. Covid hit, and I had to return to SA. Today I am a head chef who really goes out of my way to teach others. I have a huge passion for teaching my fellow chefs. And by teaching and seeing them succeed brings huge satisfaction to me. I come from humble beginnings and through hard work and dedication I can now start to give to others.

I believe cooking comes from the heart; I am here to teach you the basic skills a professional chef needs to form a waterproof foundation. English and Afrikaans I will start from the basic skills e.g. knife skills, hygiene, cooking temperatures and kitchen jargon. This is ideal for students or future students. Kitchen staff who need the extra training or someone who wants to sharpen their cooking skills at home.

You can really learn alot from Chef Gerhardt, he knows how to get work done with a great personality to go along with it. He is one of the best Head Chefs I worked under and learned alot from him.
Gerhard is an amazing tutor, as he is patient and explain in simple terms. He gives individual attention to all his students and he shows where you can improve. He gives good advice and he is always there to assist when you ask questions

Gerhardt is an outstanding and amazingly patient and passionate chef. Presentation and taste is 2 of his best qualities. Always willing to go the extra mile with others sharing in his passion. His planning on menus and functions stands out in his daily tasks. Definitely a great leader.
