About Erika
I've been teaching people of all ages since early 2016 but started one-on-one classes in April 2017. Since that time, I've had more than fifteen regular students and taught several workshops. Since my class also focuses on helping the students to feel comfortable and confident about their practice, I seek to help them work out those natural insecurities that come with art-making. This allows the learning process to be smoother and less intimidating. One of my main goals is to help students gain confidence in their own developing skills. In the past, I've met with my students at the library and even at parks and public spaces (especially for gesture exercises, fast sketching, and urban drawing). I am fully vaccinated and will keep my face mask on during the lesson. See you soon, Erika Medina

Hello, My class starts from the idea that ANYONE can learn how to draw with the right approach. These classes are designed for beginner, intermediate level students and anyone who wishes to work on their observational skills. Besides the technical side of the class, I also focus on building the confidence and knowledge through MAKING. I honor the effort and bravery of those who wish to learn or to perfect their drawing skills by designing the lessons around their learning style and interests. __________________________________ Art supplies not included. The student must be +8yo. Also, please note that I will only travel up to 10 km to the student's home. The hourly rate for longer commutes will have to be negotiated. Perfect! Erika is currently tutoring my grade 7 daughter, helping her to expand her art skills and grow her confidence. It's been amazing to see how my daughter's work has developed in just one or two lessons. Erika approaches each lesson with a clear plan and goal for what she would like my daughter to achieve. Perfect! Erika has been a wonderful teacher for our kids. I extended our time together because they love the class and Erika so much.
Excellent! I needed an art teacher to give me some accountability for a personal practice in drawing, and to help push my art to another level. My main goal in working with Erika was to learn how to draw faces and, more importantly, to learn *how to learn* drawing.
Erika did a great job of assessing my level and providing weekly assignments for me to work through. We worked together on Skype for an hour at each go, going over my week's work and then diving into the next subject. Her feedback was always well-reasoned and presented in such a way that it was easy to understand and grow from. Plus, she's very professional and just a good person, which makes working with her a joy.
