About Fergus
Hi, I am Fergus, I am a final year engineering student.
I originally grew up on a farm in Hokitika, since then I went to board in Nelson, and now have lived in Christchurch as a student for almost 4 years. In my downtime, you'll find me bombing down the port hills on my bike, causing neighborly nuisance with the guitar, or out adventuring around the country.
I am looking to take up some tutoring for a few reasons.
To get better at teaching people. I have a few friends who
have done some tutoring, their ability to explain things has improved dramatically. This is a skill I'd love to perfect.
To help students achieve their best. I had some tutoring in school from older boys in the boarding house. This was extremely helpful for cementing what I was learning in class, and I'd like to give others the support that I received.
And lastly, is for some extra pocket money, I've got a overseas trip to Asia coming up that would be nice to have a bit of spare cash for.

Hi, my name is Fergus, I am a Final Year Engineering Student at the University of Canterbury.
Since leaving school in 2020. I have continued honing my academic skills and am competent to teach Maths, Chemistry, Physics, Economics, and Calculus across all NCEA levels.
I am a people person, I love helping people to improve their understanding and enjoyment in school.
I had some experience private tutoring in December 2023 which involved helping a student prepare for NCEA level 1 exams. I look forward to continuing to master my tutoring skills.
Typically, I would tutor each student for approximately an hour to review work, work through problems, and set goals to achieve before the next lesson.
I am based in the Upper Riccarton / Ilam but can arrange to travel for either home tutoring or at public libraries.
