For AP Calculus or SAT students, I generally begin with examples and give students what they need to solve questions. Then I go in details and teach the philosophy of the subject.
For university students, I use Flipped Learning. I send basic definitions and examples to students before the classes. During the classes, we discuss the subject in details and solve higher level examples
