About Elspeth
Hi! I'm a primary trained teacher with four years experience in the UK and New Zealand, where I lived for over a year. I teach to the child's strengths and interests, making sure they're engaged in and want to learn more. I see a successful lesson as one that the child wants to follow up on by themselves - nothing is better than hearing a child tell me what they found out by themselves!
As an online tutor, I will teach to the child's needs and interests. I will design a programme of study to compliment what the child is learning in school to help them create their own learning experience.
My area of expertise is in English grammar. I have taught in Year 5, but my experience mostly lies in Key Stage 1, in phonics, reading, writing, maths problem solving and reasoning.
I can also explain concepts to parents and help to demystify some of the more... unusual terms teachers use (such as fronted adverbial phrase!).
