About Ben
Over the years, I have developed a profound interest in computer science and programming, even going so far as to take a CS GCSE as an adult. I am passionate about introducing written programming languages into primary school curricula as an extension of block coding, particularly Python. As well as teaching computing and developing schemes of work, I run a number of code clubs across different educational settings that introduce children to the basics of written code.

I am a qualified primary school teacher (UK licence), and have worked in schools for around eight years. I also spent five years tutoring English while living in China.
Lessons will explore fundamental coding concepts like variable assignment, conditional selection and iteration. We will work together to decompose larger program ideas into manageable tasks, writing code with forethought and purpose.
We will primarily use the programming language Python via the website Trinket, but I am also happy to work with JavaScript on request. At more advanced levels, Python/JS may need to be installed locally on a machine (I can provide support with that).
Sessions are an hour long, conducted remotely and are aimed at 7-14 year olds who are interested in learning the basics of code. I am also well-placed to offer support to any other educators who are looking to sharpen their computer science knowledge.
