About Karen
Bachelor of Science graduate (Minor in Mathematics) with 20+ years of professional communications experience and a strong ability to explain concepts clearly and effectively.
Involved in the development and editing of multiple Singapore Primary Mathematics Heuristics guide and practice books used by tuition centres, as well as Secondary E-Mathematics and A-Mathematics guidebooks. Deeply familiar with common student misconceptions, PSLE-style problem-solving techniques, and mathematical reasoning.
Currently conducting relief teaching for holiday Mathematics programmes at a Mathematics tuition and enrichment centre.
As a parent of four children who have successfully progressed to university and beyond, I understand the challenges faced by both students and parents. I offand er patient, personalised guidance aimed at building confidence, strengthening problem-solving skills, and helping students achieve lasting improvement in - and perhaps even develop a love for - Mathematics.
As I am committed to providing highly-personalised support and making a meaningful difference to each student’s progress, I accept no more than three students at any one time.

Every child learns differently. My teaching approach focuses on understanding how each student thinks, learns, and approaches Mathematics. By identifying both strengths and areas of difficulty, I am able to pinpoint the underlying causes of mistakes and misconceptions, rather than simply correcting answers.
Lessons are tailored to the individual student, using appropriate techniques to strengthen understanding, build confidence, and develop effective problem-solving skills. This personalised approach helps students gain a deeper grasp of mathematical concepts and achieve sustainable improvement in their performance.

Details
Prior to the first lesson, I would appreciate receiving at least three recent test or examination papers for review. This enables me to better understand the student’s strengths and areas for improvement.
The first one-hour session is complimentary and serves as an assessment session, allowing future lessons to be tailored to the student’s learning needs.
