About Janessa
I am a dedicated mentor and student support professional with experience helping students build confidence, improve academic performance, and develop long-term success habits. My approach is centered around patience, structure, communication, and adaptability, allowing me to work effectively with students from a variety of educational backgrounds and learning styles.
Throughout my experience, I have assisted students with organization, goal setting, accountability, academic support, and personal development while creating a supportive and encouraging environment. My teaching method and techniques
My teaching approach as a mentor focused on building confidence, structure, and consistency while adapting to each student’s individual learning style. I used a supportive and hands-on method that combined accountability, encouragement, and practical skill development. I focused heavily on communication, goal-setting, progress tracking, and helping students overcome personal or academic barriers that impacted their performance. I also incorporated technology, visual tracking systems, and personalized action plans to keep students engaged and motivated.
A typical lesson plan
A typical session began with a brief check-in to discuss progress, challenges, and goals. From there, I would review previous assignments or milestones, identify areas needing improvement, and create a structured plan for the session. Lessons often included guided instruction, interactive discussion, independent practice, and progress monitoring. I also made time for organization skills, time management, and motivational support to ensure students stayed on track both academically and personally.
