About Darlene
When I was in elementary school, I didn't do that great in school. Once I got to middle school, I had a tutor who inspired me to believe in myself and without their help, I wouldn't have changed the trajectory of my academics. Now, I'm studying Bioengineering and University of Pennsylvania! :)

I believe every student can absorb concepts well when presented to them in an interesting way. I personally never had this when going through school, so I used to create it for myself. My teaching philosophy is to stimulate interest in the topics the student is learning. Once I get to know the student's aspirations and goals, being at the level where I currently am, I break down the importance of learning the specific topic we're discussing by relating it to their future plans. A typical lesson with me would involve giving a brief overview of how this topic relates to what the student wants to do, followed by giving an overview of it. We'll then dive into the content, and have a question and answer session before doing some practice problems.
I love making lessons fun and lively!A good balance of learning and breaks has always been my approach to sessions.
