About David
I’m David, a software engineer and designer who runs a small creative development studio. My professional work spans web applications, mobile apps, and interactive projects, which gives me a grounded perspective on what students actually need to learn to feel confident and capable in tech. I’ve taught and mentored people across different levels, from complete beginners to college students and early-career developers, always with a focus on clarity, patience, and real understanding. I bring a mix of technical depth and creativity to my lessons. Because I actively build products for clients and for my own projects, I stay current with modern tools, frameworks, and best practices. My approach as a tutor starts with understanding who a student is, how they learn, and what they’re trying to build. I’m a working software engineer and designer, so I teach through real-world examples, not abstract theory. I break concepts down into simple building blocks, use visual explanations when helpful, and always connect a lesson back to something practical you can use in your own projects. My goal is to help you feel confident—not just in writing code, but in understanding why it works.
A typical lesson begins by checking in on what you’ve learned so far and identifying any blockers. From there, we’ll move into a focused topic: it could be JavaScript fundamentals, a React component pattern, debugging a tricky issue, or refining a project you’re already working on. Toward the end of each session, I like to reinforce the main ideas through small exercises or guided problem-solving, so you walk away with something you’ve fully grasped, not just heard.
What sets me apart is that I work at the intersection of engineering and design. I run a small creative studio, so my day-to-day involves building production-ready websites, apps, and interactive projects. That experience allows me to teach not just how to code, but how to think like a developer—how to structure projects, make technical decisions, and keep your work clean, readable, and scalable. I can also support students who want a more creative pathway, like building portfolio projects, integrating APIs, or learning modern frameworks through hands-on practice.
My lessons are for beginners who want to learn the foundations the right way, intermediates who need support leveling up, or students working through university CS courses who benefit from clearer explanations and real-world context.
