About Elliott

Going through education I found mainstream schooling incredibly difficult, always thinking of ways I could improve the education myself and others received - also hoping to incorporate the amazing teaching experiences I have received; having studied at a range of levels and locations, including a semester studying Kommunikations design at Augsburg University in Bavaria, Germany. Now that I have recently completed my master's degree in my chosen specialism - I plan to pursue my PhD/Doctorate and potentially a PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education), with a goal of lecturing at higher education whilst maintaining my own career. I currently work at a world-renowned Arts University based in London. I am absolutely fascinated by the connection between art, design, technology and philosophy - exploring the limitless possibilities these subjects offer in tandem.

Hello there! Are you a creative, designer, artist or hobbyist? (or more) - Are you considering how creative technologies can enhance your work - or would just like to learn?! My name is Elliott and I'm an MA Interaction Design student studying at the London College of Communication (University of Arts London) - I'm a qualified graphic designer with a particular interest in experiential design such as exhibitions, exhibits, product design and much more. For those potentially concerned with my background, I am also DBS checked and can happily provide a certificate upon request. I offer a huge range of teaching in a plethora of areas including but not limited to: computer science (Software & Hardware), General and specialised digital skills, design skills - ranging from 3D Design, animation to manufacturing. So if you have an idea for a project and want to learn how to make it a reality or just want to skill up and see where your newfound skills can take you - I’m all ears! Before diving into this particular subject and what I offer or, can offer, I would like to briefly talk about you! I think it's really important to acknowledge from the off that everyone is different and I understand that. So if you consider yourself to be “too old to learn this”, “I wasn’t very good in school” or “I am concerned as I have a mental, physical or learning impairment…” then think again. In the ever-evolving industries of design, creative computing and more it’s never too late for anyone - whilst also having a sliding scale of complexity for whatever your background is and isn't - I am here to facilitate your individual needs and worries on a personal level - or I would run group workshops (I do also do this!). So if you’re concerned about learning a new skill or worried you’ll struggle then don’t push away the opportunity to delve into something you might love! (Trust me I know!) so if you want to just take your hobby to the next level, break through a problem you’re having or just want to learn everything and anything from scratch… This is your time and I hope to be the person who can do that with you! (So, please! Get in touch with any questions you may have) Right, so! Creative computing - what is it and why should I be bothered?! Well if you’ve ever heard of Arduinos, Raspberry Pi’s, Python and many more - you might well already have an idea of what it is you’re interested in. But for those who don’t, I’ll give you a quick breakdown. Creative computing is an area or industry that uses technology to solve creative problems! So let's take an accessibility viewpoint as an example for a moment; say you have a poor sense of hearing but want to know when you've got a letter in your letterbox, we as creatives can come up with an innovative solution to help solve your problem - from creating a buzzing wearable connected to AI (computer vision) Camera that alerts you when a letter goes through the door! - or something more Graphic design related where you’ve designed a poster of a piano that you want to actually be playable as a keyboard using conductive ink! Or maybe you’re just fascinated by making things and want to learn anything and everything you can from 3D printing, AI, programming and just generally how to build something from scratch to final project! So if you’re an experienced designer, have just retired from your job and looking for something to fulfil your interests, a fine artist, a student (any range, from primary school - to undergraduate or even masters) then I hope you’ll find that I have something to teach you! Now creative computing is certainly much more than what I could ever write on here and highly recommend you check out websites such as hackaday, Instructables or makers on youtube or even design/art studios you like to help give some examples and inspiration (I can also help with a lack of inspiration! - as I teach a wide range of design and creative theory!) So I hope at this point you’re thinking wow! This sounds like something I or someone else would love to learn more about whether that be for fun, Academia or work - then get in contact to see how I can facilitate that learning. If on the other hand, this isn’t quite what you’re looking for, you’re not sure or have some questions; then check out my other listings or get in touch with me as if I don’t teach it I almost definitely know someone who does - be that Experimental sound Arts/Installations, to Textiles, I know someone extremely talented who can facilitate your learning. Lastly, if you’re thinking about some specific technologies, software, hardware and programming language and want to know if I’ll cover it - I’m going to list a range of things I can cover. HOWEVER, this is just a very limited list… plus it helps people with those searches find my advert so it’s always best to message me - I may surprise you! Thank you for taking the time to read my listing and hope to speak with you soon. All the best Elliott.
